From Rottu to Rhône
In the valley where it grows, the Rhône (Rotten in German, Rottu in Walliserdeutsch) has undergone numerous developments aimed at controlling its flow and reducing the harmful effects of its floods. After the Rhône corrections of 1863 and 1930, a third correction has been in progress since 2009.
